Orlando Jones is a renaissance man. His recent performances includes: starring opposite Laurence Fishburne as the anti-apartheid revolutionary Oliver Tambo in Madiba; being tapped by Ethan Hawke for the Showtime series The Good Lord Bird based on James McBride's best selling novel. From the Duplass Brothers dark comedy Room 104, to playing the Elgin Baylor on the highly anticipated new Los Angeles Laker series on HBO. Jones has proven himself as a masterful storyteller with advertising awards, writing, producing and acting credits that stretch from his iconic 7UP character to the groundbreaking sitcoms, A Different World & Martin. Jones was the only original cast member on Mad TV to write and perform on the series. In 2019 Neil Gaiman, Michael Green & Bryan Fuller tapped Jones to create and embody fan favorite, Mr. Nancy the titular character in Anansi Boy’s the American Gods sequel. Joneses consulting producing, writing and acting services on Season 2 garnered the highest-rated launch for Starz in over two years. Jones worked closely with Robert Orci & Alex Kurtzman to create his character Frank Irving & launch their reimagined Sleepy Hollow franchise to global success. Jones acting, marketing, social media content and transformative media work on Fox’s supernatural series earned him and his company many accolades including the first Virtual Reality Emmy ever given by the Television Academy in 2015. Dubbed the King of Fandom by MTV. Jones is the subject of dozens academic papers, with speaking engagements at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication, UCLA, Oxford, Princeton, MIT & the Fan Studies Network symposium with the father of fan studies Henry Jenkins. Jones even wrote the preface to the academic book Seeing Fans and helped SyFy celebrate their 25th anniversary by legally marrying fans at the San Diego Comic Con (yes, Jones is ordained) Orlando filmed his a sold-out Comedy Central special in South Africa; and hosted and produced content for the digital broadcast of the 88th Academy Awards. Jones remains an influential force within the fandom and entertainment universe.
